The All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council has directed ministers, political appointees and members of its campaign council to attend only presidential campaign rallies organised in their respective home states ahead of the 2027 general election.

The directive is contained in a circular dated Tuesday, November 3, and signed by the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

The circular, addressed to directors and heads of directorates, outlined guidelines for participation in the party’s presidential campaign activities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the council, the guidelines are intended to ensure effective coordination of campaign activities and strengthen grassroots mobilisation as the APC intensifies preparations for the election.

It said the rallies were designed to energise the party’s support base across the states and geopolitical zones while communicating the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to voters.

The circular further directed ministers and other political appointees to concentrate on grassroots mobilisation across their polling units, wards and Local Government Areas (LGAs), in line with what it described as the campaign’s “pyramid concept”.

It said the arrangement was intended to ensure effective coordination and implementation of campaign activities at the grassroots level.

Members of the Presidential Campaign Council were also restricted to rallies organised in their respective home states.

They were asked to concentrate on implementing the approved work plans of their respective directorates while mobilising support across polling units, wards and LGAs.

The council also directed directorates without specific responsibilities at campaign rallies to remain focused on executing their approved work plans and budgets rather than participating in activities outside their designated assignments.

For members of the APC National Working Committee, NWC, the circular directed them to concentrate on party responsibilities and mobilisation activities within their respective states and geopolitical zones.

However, the directive exempted the National Chairman, National Secretary, National Women’s Leader, National Youth Leader and National Organising Secretary from the home-state restriction.

Other members of the committee are expected to attend rallies organised in their respective states.

The campaign council also said it would give greater prominence to APC candidates contesting seats in state Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate during the rallies.

It directed directors to ensure that all officers under their respective directorates were informed of the guidelines and complied with the provisions.
