Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has said he played a major role in the appointment of former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Minister of Defence.
Mr Sani disclosed this during an interview with Trust TV on Tuesday while highlighting what he described as the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in Kaduna State.
The governor said he recommended Musa to Tinubu because of his military experience, professional competence and track record in the fight against insecurity.
“I was instrumental in General Christopher Musa’s appointment as Defence Minister,” he said.
Mr Sani described Musa as one of the finest military officers Nigeria had produced, expressing confidence in his ability to address the country’s security challenges.

He said the former military chief had the experience and discipline required to lead the Defence Ministry and support the Tinubu administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity.
The governor also expressed confidence that Tinubu considered his recommendation because the president wanted competent hands to manage the country’s security sector.
Mr Sani said his relationship with the president had also helped Kaduna State secure federal appointments and development projects.
He listed Minister of Environment and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, among other prominent appointments linked to the state.
The governor maintained that Kaduna had benefited from its relationship with the federal government, citing the appointments and projects as evidence of the administration’s engagement with the state.
