2027: PDP Reps Candidate Abubakar Usman Donates N1m to Ogugu Chiefdom Cultural Festival

… regrets his inability to attend the festival in person due to his absence from the country.

Hon. Abubakar Usman, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, has donated ₦1 million in support of the forthcoming Ogugu Chiefdom Cultural Festival, scheduled to hold from October 22 to 24, 2026.

The donation underscores his commitment to the preservation of the cultural heritage, traditional institutions and communal values of the Ogugu people as the chiefdom prepares for a major celebration of its history, identity and shared aspirations.

Usman, who is currently outside the country, expressed regret at his inability to attend the festival in person, noting that he would have been present to identify with the people and participate in the historic gathering but for his absence from Nigeria.

His ₦1 million contribution is expected to support the successful organisation of the festival and the realisation of its objectives of cultural preservation, peaceful coexistence and sustainable community development.

The festival, organised under the auspices of the Ochogwu Ogugu Traditional Council, is expected to bring together sons and daughters of Ogugu, traditional rulers, government officials, distinguished personalities and other stakeholders for a series of cultural activities aimed at promoting peace, unity, community engagement and security awareness.

The event will also feature the conferment of chieftaincy titles on deserving individuals in recognition of their contributions to community development, alongside activities designed to strengthen the cultural identity and traditional values of the Ogugu Chiefdom.

Usman’s donation followed an appeal by His Royal Highness, Barrister Siaka Isaiah Idoko-Akoh, the Ochogwu of Ogugu and First-Class Paramount Traditional Ruler of Ogugu Chiefdom, who had formally invited him to participate in the festival and solicited financial assistance towards its successful hosting.

In his appeal, the traditional ruler emphasised the importance of the festival as a platform for reviving the community’s cultural heritage, promoting unity and strengthening collective commitment to the security and development of the chiefdom.

The PDP candidate’s intervention highlights the importance of collaboration between political leaders, traditional institutions and community stakeholders in advancing initiatives that preserve indigenous heritage while fostering social cohesion and development.

As the Ogugu Chiefdom Cultural Festival approaches, Usman’s contribution adds momentum to efforts by the traditional council and the people to deliver a memorable celebration that honours their ancestry, celebrates their cultural identity and reinforces their collective vision for a peaceful and prosperous community.

The 2026 Ogugu Chiefdom Cultural Festival is scheduled to hold from October 22 to 24, 2026, with the traditional council anticipating the participation of community members, invited dignitaries and other stakeholders in the three-day celebration.
