Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has donated 39 vehicles to religious organisations to strengthen peacebuilding and promote peaceful coexistence across the state.

The beneficiaries include Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, alongside other Islamic groups and Christian denominations.

The governor, represented by his Director General of Interfaith, Tahir Umar Tahir, said the gesture would support religious organisations’ advocacy for peaceful coexistence.

He expressed concern over alleged plans by some politicians to disrupt public peace before, during and after the forthcoming elections and urged the citizens of Kaduna not to be misled by anyone trying to disrupt peace in the state.

Tahir recalled that Fityanul Islam’s First Aid Group had requested six buses to strengthen its peacebuilding activities during its national seminar and award ceremony in August.

He said the governor subsequently promised four buses, with two allocated to the national body and Kaduna State chapter.

According to him, the governor extended the gesture to First Aid Groups of other Islamic sects and the Boys Brigade of the Christian faith.

He added that the governor directed that the Kaduna chapters of JNI and CAN be given Hummer buses.

Tahir said other Islamic sects and Christian denominations under CAN were also included in the distribution to support their religious activities.

He assured organisations yet to benefit that they would be considered in subsequent distributions.

The director general said Sani had consistently carried religious organisations along since assuming office, ensuring equitable opportunities for adherents of both major religions.

He cited the distribution of free fertiliser and political appointments as examples of the governor’s inclusive approach to governance.

Tahir urged religious leaders and their followers to reciprocate the governor’s gestures through prayers, stressing the importance of supporting leaders, adding that his second term would consolidate ongoing developmental efforts across the state.

Representatives of JNI and CAN in Kaduna State commended the governor for the gesture, and pledged continued prayers for peace and development in the state and nation in general.
