President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has held discussions with mining industry expert Dr Femi Salami on opportunities to unlock greater value from the country’s mineral resources.
The meeting focused on strengthening Sierra Leone’s mining industry through technical partnerships, investment facilitation, geological exploration, minerals processing and the development of sustainable critical minerals value chains.
Salami said MinePro and the Centre for Mining Innovations and Critical Minerals Development were ready to support President Bio’s administration through technology transfer, capacity development and strategic partnerships.
He noted that Sierra Leone had significant opportunities to strengthen its position in the global minerals market through responsible investment, innovation and improved local processing of mineral resources.
According to him, greater value addition could accelerate the country’s mining sector development, create employment opportunities and attract increased international investment.
Salami reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Africa’s mining industry through innovation, investment, technology and strategic partnerships.
