The legal representatives of Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi have issued a cease-and-desist notice to members of the public, particularly bloggers, social media users and content creators, over the circulation of alleged false, misleading and defamatory statements about the actress.
In a notice dated Thursday, November 5, 2026, and signed by Tope Salami, Esq., the lawyers warned against the publication, reposting, endorsement or circulation of unverified allegations capable of damaging their client’s reputation, personal integrity and professional image.
The lawyers said they had observed that certain individuals were circulating statements and narratives about Abraham which they described as “untrue, misleading, unsubstantiated, and capable of damaging her professional personality, image, personal integrity, and general goodwill.”
They called on the public to be wary of what they described as “several false and malicious publications” allegedly targeted at the actress by “some ‘known persons’ taking cover under sponsored individuals.”
The notice stated: “We therefore implore the general public to immediately CEASE AND DESIST from making, publishing, reposting, circulating, endorsing or otherwise disseminating any false, misleading, malicious, defamatory or unverified statements concerning Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, whether directly or indirectly, across any social media platform or other communication channel known to law.”

The lawyers also cautioned that freedom of expression did not give members of the public unrestricted permission to spread false information or damage another person’s reputation.
“It is trite that the freedom of expression enjoyed by members of the public does not confer an unrestricted permit to spread falsehoods, malign another person’s character or publish statements that unlawfully injure another person’s reputation,” the notice read.

The legal representatives outlined five demands, including an immediate halt to the publication and circulation of false or defamatory information about the actress across all communication platforms.
They also urged members of the public to “refrain from creating, promoting, or amplifying misleading narratives, fabricated allegations, malicious insinuations or content intended to ridicule, harass, or damage her reputation.”
The notice further demanded the removal of existing publications, videos, comments and other materials containing alleged false or defamatory statements about Abraham.
It warned against using social media or other platforms to encourage harassment, cyberbullying, intimidation or reputational attacks against the actress or her business.
On future publications, the lawyers insisted that “any future commentary concerning our client is factual, responsible, fair, and supported by verifiable information.”
The notice also warned that individuals who continued to publish, circulate, endorse or amplify defamatory statements after receiving it could face legal consequences.
“Any person who continues to publish, circulate, endorse or amplify false and defamatory statements after receiving this notice shall be held legally responsible for their actions and may face appropriate legal proceedings and other remedies available under every extant law,” it stated.
It added that relevant online publications, posts, comments, videos and other digital materials could be preserved as evidence for possible legal action.
The lawyers said the notice was issued without prejudice to any rights, remedies or legal claims available to their client.
They urged the public to “exercise restraint, verify information before publication and refrain from taking part in the spread of falsehoods.”
The notice concluded with an appeal to all concerned to treat the warning seriously and “govern themselves accordingly with a pathway of honour.”
