A grassroots political mobilisation campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 has gained momentum in Jigawa State, with supporters chanting “Tinubu Must Stay” during the inauguration of a campaign office in Garun Gabas Ward, Malam Madori Local Government Area.

The mobilisation was led by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, who is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees and National Coordinator of the Tinubu Movement for Sustainable Governance Foundation (TMS).

The event attracted All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, community stakeholders, women, youths and supporters, while some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) announced their defection to the APC.

Speaking at the inauguration, Abdullahi said the movement was establishing grassroots structures to educate Nigerians on the policies and reforms of the Tinubu administration and mobilise support for the President’s anticipated second-term bid.

He said the movement was created to take the administration’s reform messages to communities and explain how its policies were expected to promote economic diversification and inclusive national development.

“The essence of creating the TMS Movement is to go down to the grassroots level to enlighten citizens on President Tinubu’s reforms,” he said.

Abdullahi identified education, agriculture, food security, national security, digital literacy and healthcare as key areas of government intervention, arguing that sustained implementation of reforms was necessary for Nigeria’s economic transformation.

Citing South Korea, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, he said their development experiences demonstrated the importance of policy consistency.

He urged residents to support Tinubu’s re-election, saying continuity would enable the administration to consolidate its development programmes.

“On this note, I implore the people to come out en masse and ensure a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Beyond the political campaign, the NITDA Director-General announced plans to empower another 200 women in Garun Gabas Ward through the movement’s community intervention programmes.

He said previous empowerment exercises in Jigawa, including one in Hadejia, had provided beneficiaries with financial assistance, sewing machines, bakery equipment and agricultural inputs to strengthen small businesses and improve household incomes.

Abdullahi added that the movement would continue to support vulnerable groups, particularly women, youths, children and persons with disabilities, through economic empowerment and educational assistance.

The event also provided an opportunity for the APC leadership in Malam Madori to highlight development projects facilitated through NITDA.

The local government APC Chairman, Alhaji Tanko Ahmad, specifically commended the establishment of an Information and Communication Technology Development Centre at Government Secondary School, Garun Gabas.

“We will not forget NITDA’s intervention through the establishment of the ICT Development Centre in Government Secondary School, Garun Gabas,” Ahmad said.

He pledged the party’s continued support for the TMS mobilisation initiative, declaring that the movement had secured a permanent place in the community.

The TMS Convener in Garun Gabas, Engineer Hashim Suleiman, described the turnout as evidence of growing grassroots acceptance of the movement.

He said the initiative began with activities in the United Kingdom before its formal launch in Abuja and subsequent expansion to communities across Nigeria.

Suleiman also urged beneficiaries of the empowerment programmes to utilise the support productively to establish sustainable businesses and achieve economic independence.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of an Award of Recognition to Abdullahi by the TMS leadership in Garun Gabas for his contributions to digital infrastructure development and grassroots engagement.

The inauguration is part of the movement’s wider strategy to establish structures across wards and local government areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
