APM Working with PDP Structures Nationwide to Back Makinde’s 2027 Presidential Bid – Former Aviation Minister

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) said on Wednesday it is working with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to secure victory for Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2027 presidential election, and that it is using PDP structures nationwide to do so.

Felix Hassan Hyat, a former aviation minister and director-general of the APM National Campaign Council, made the disclosure at a meeting in Enugu with 190 candidates from the five South-East states.

Hyat said his role was to canvass votes for Makinde to address what he described as poverty, hunger and insecurity. He also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying its reliance on borrowing had hurt the country.

He urged candidates to protect their votes at polling units. “Party agents have always been the people who make us fail elections at the polling units,” he said. “We have to work hard to get the votes, and after that, we have to protect our votes.”

Makinde, who is the APM’s presidential candidate, said the meeting was meant to hear candidates’ challenges and plan how to win at all levels in the 2027 general elections.

He said the party would unveil its manifesto on Nov. 4. He described it as a blueprint to rescue the country from “total collapse.”

APM National Chairman Yusuf Mamman said the party and its candidate enjoyed the support of citizens who want to “reset Nigeria.” He thanked the party chairmen in the five South-East states for keeping the party running in the region.

Ikechukwu Charles, the party’s Abia State governorship candidate, said South-East voters were ready to back the APM. He cited the party’s slogans, “Nigeria First” and “Reset Nigeria,” and said supporters would turn out in large numbers and defend their votes.
