The Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Faruk Enabo, has donated vehicles, 225 motorcycles and other empowerment items to APC leaders, political coordinators and support groups across Kebbi State to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and party structures.

Enabo, while presenting the items, commended Governor Nasir Idris, for what he described as exemplary leadership, commitment to public welfare and support for the people, saying the governor’s administration had inspired community empowerment and grassroots development.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for the trust and opportunities extended to him, pledging continued commitment to the development of Kebbi State and the success of the All Progressives Congress.

Enabo also dismissed allegations that funds belonging to the Pilgrims Welfare Agency or the state government were used to finance the donations, insisting that the initiative was funded through his legitimate business activities and personal resources.

Giving an account of the agency’s 2024 Hajj financial operations, he disclosed that it collected ₦27.9 billion from intending pilgrims and remitted ₦25.7 billion to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, explaining that the balance covered pilgrims’ Basic Travelling Allowance and other local Hajj operational expenses.

The chairman further highlighted achievements of the Idris administration in healthcare, education, infrastructure and security, including the renovation of 117 primary healthcare centres and 25 general hospitals, as well as the recruitment of healthcare workers and teachers.

On the political situation in Kebbi, Enabo recalled his contributions, alongside those of Governor Idris, towards strengthening the APC, including support for nomination forms for 225 councillorship candidates and 42 local government chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates.

He alleged that some of these contributions had been wrongly attributed to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, accusing Malami and the African Democratic Congress of misrepresenting the circumstances surrounding the governor’s political support.

The donation package includes vehicles for coordinators across the 21 local government areas, the three serving senators, eight members of the House of Representatives, the APC State Chairman and the party’s Kebbi Central Zonal Vice Chairman.

The initiative also provides 225 motorcycles for APC ward chairmen to enhance communication and political mobilisation at the grassroots.

Enabo announced plans to extend assistance to committees operating across the state’s 3,627 polling units, alongside a separate empowerment programme for women, featuring sewing machines and other livelihood-support equipment.

In his remarks, Governor Nasir Idris appreciated the chairman for the gesture, describing support for followers and the improvement of people’s welfare as important responsibilities of leadership.

The governor urged beneficiaries to use the vehicles, motorcycles and other items responsibly for their intended purposes, particularly community engagement, grassroots mobilisation and economic empowerment.

He also prayed for Allah’s blessings on those investing their resources in the service of humanity and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the living conditions of the people.

Governor Idris called on APC members and supporters to sustain unity, peace and cooperation in advancing the development of Kebbi State.
