The Personal Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Education, Comrade Rufus Obafemi, has applauded the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, for his recent mega empowerment programme in Ogidi, describing the initiative as a commendable demonstration of people-oriented leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
Obafemi praised the Council Chairman for prioritising the welfare of residents, particularly widows and vulnerable members of society, through an intervention designed to improve livelihoods and promote economic inclusion.
He noted that meaningful governance must transcend political promises to deliver tangible benefits that positively impact ordinary citizens.
According to him, initiatives that empower disadvantaged populations, strengthen household economic resilience and create opportunities for self-reliance remain essential to sustainable community development.
The Governor’s aide described Haruna’s intervention as a positive contribution to grassroots governance, urging other stakeholders to embrace programmes that address the socioeconomic challenges confronting communities.
Obafemi further encouraged Ijumu residents to sustain their engagement in community development while maintaining their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He emphasised that effective collaboration between political leaders, traditional institutions and community stakeholders remains indispensable to accelerating development across Ijumu and Kogi State.
Reaffirming his appreciation to the Council Chairman, Obafemi expressed optimism that sustained investments in human capital development, social welfare and economic empowerment would strengthen inclusive growth and improve living standards.
He concluded that empowering people, protecting vulnerable citizens and expanding opportunities for economic independence are fundamental pillars of responsive leadership and sustainable grassroots transformation.
