Senate Democrats want to know why the FBI is requiring hundreds of intelligence analysts to perform records checks related to the investigation in the 2020 election in Georgia, according to a letter obtained exclusively by MS NOW.

Sen. Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, wrote to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel about reporting by MS NOW, confirmed by the New York Times, that Patel is ordering 260 FBI analysts to work on what FBI documents called a “priority investigation” in Georgia that officials say is related to the 2020 election.
“This misuse of taxpayer dollars … is negligence and abuse of power of the highest order,” Warner wrote.

The FBI has declined to comment on the matter.
“Dedicated FBI special agents and intelligence analysts work tirelessly to identify legitimate threats and conduct investigations into complex issues involving terrorism, counterintelligence and espionage, cyberattacks, and violent crime,” Warner wrote.
